"Jo Shu An" means a place (lit. hermitage) to express the movement of the spirit through the shakuhachi. It is also deriven from the pronunciation of my name Josh (Joshu) in Japanese. My teacher Okada Michiaki came up with this interesting name for my Dojo. No experience with an instrument is necessary. Regardless of age, sex, or nationality, if you practice you will definately get better at this traditional bamboo instrument. I can help you find a shakuhachi within your budget if necessary.
